Patricia's Easy Elderberry Syrup Recipe
*Ingredients:*
2 cups of elderberries
6 cinnamon sticks
Juice of 1 orange
Juice of 1 lemon
1 inch (or more) of fresh ginger, sliced
12 cloves
1–2 cups of honey ( use real honey here if you can get local honey I suggest that)
1. In a large pot, combine the elderberries, cinnamon sticks, ginger, and cloves with water. Simmer for 45 minutes, adding 4 cups of water as needed to prevent drying.
2. After 45 minutes, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to extract the liquid.
3. Allow the liquid to cool completely.
4. Stir in honey, apple cider vinegar, and your choice of essential oil.
5. Store the syrup in glass jars. - In a dark, cool place: 6 months - In the refrigerator: Up to 1 year - In the freezer: Pull out as needed
